VOSIS is a synthesizer that combines the audification of greyscale pixel data with various image filters. Designed for image sonification, visual music composition, and experimental sound design, VOSIS establishes shape-timbre relationships through the audification of pixel luminance values. The pixel scan rate can be adjusted in terms of note interval, octave, and scale to produce varying pitch across different image regions. With the ADSR envelope, users can interpret images as a non-linear sequence of pitches featuring diverse wavetables and timbres.
VOSIS Pro enhances the capabilities of VOSIS for sound designers and musicians by introducing several valuable features. These include the ability to save and load custom presets, connect a MIDI keyboard to play regions using keys, map any control or region positions to MIDI CC, enable unlimited recording and screen mirroring without watermarks, apply downsampling, blur, sharpen, and tremolo filters, subdivide large regions into step sequence mode, and load video files (available on iPad and Desktop versions).
